Popular support for Abdullah Ocalan and PKK shown at Kurdish Demonstration.

The Kurdish crowds in this video (click on photo) of the demonstration in Silopi at the weekend at every chance are chanting love for the leader of the PKK, Abdullah Ocalan. Although, for legal reasons, the video has been cut and sliced and music is switched on at every opportunity, chanting can clearing be heard for "Ocalan" (Pronounced Ojalan) and "Apo". And placards of Abdullah Ocalan are everywhere with the colours of the Kurdish Freedom Movement, that until quite recently were banned too.

What do the people who say that the issue is about 'terrorism' say to this video? That all the people here should be imprisoned for supporting 'terrorism'? This is just Silopi! Wait until Newroz in March 2008! You will see every Kurdish city and town demonstrating in exactly the same way. So what kind of military solution could be enacted against all these millions of Kurdish people?

There is only one solution:

A Peaceful and Democratic Solution to The Kurdish Question in Turkey.

Please read my paper, "The PKK and Revolutionary Nonviolence: Transforming Struggle for Kurdish Freedom in Turkey." It was presented on my behalf at the 2008 Conference on Kurdish Genocide in Erbil, and is now published online at the Mahatma Gandhi Center for Global Nonviolence at James Madison University (USA). Feedback is welcome.
