Neither Kirkuk nor Kurdistan, only Exxon Mobil's Tune!

Click here for update on oil

Its really difficult to say where the KRG are going at the moment, but there is no doubt that they have been subject to massive psychological, military and political pressure from the US and Turkey over the last 12 months or more.

Readers of Hevallo will know that Michael Rubins of the American Enterprise Institute, a US lobbying organisation sponsored by Exxon Mobil has been at the forefront of a dirty campaign to realign US/Turkish political and military alliances in preference to US/Kurdish alliances.

This campaign has clearly had an effect.

With Exxon Mobil poised to win massive oil contracts in the upcoming Oil Laws we can safely assume that the pressure that the Turkey/US alliance has put on the KRG is now coming to the end game of control over Kurdish/Iraqi oil.

The KRG have neither achieved Kurdistan nor Kirkuk. The promised article 140 of the constitution has been thrown into the bin and now there is much talk of a 'power sharing agreement' over Kirkuk.

Clearly, better relations with Turkey has taken preference over Kurdish dreams.

They are all now whistling Exxon Mobil's tune!
